Can I hunt rabbits after dark?

My grandpa and I are wondering if we are allowed to hunt rabbits at night with a spotlight? Is it legal to shoot at night at nocturnal predators?
Answer:
The short answer to your question is no.  Legal hunting hours in Idaho are limited to daylight only.  This is defined as one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset for most species.   It is legal to hunt some predators including coyotes and jackrabbits after dark with the aid of artificial light under one of two conditions.  You are hunting on private property and have written permission from the landowner.  You are hunting on public land and have obtained a permit from the Idaho Department of Fish and Game to hunt with the aid of artificial light.  Applications for this permit can be obtained from your local Fish and Game Regional Office.
