Establish uniform requirements for game bird tag validation and attachment

This rulemaking was initiated to do the following:

• Establish the same validation and attachment requirements for all game birds that require a tag.
  • This will provide consistency among game bird tags and simplify validation requirements for the hunting public.

• Eliminate permit requirements for grouse (i.e., sage-grouse) if a game tag is required by statute, in the future.
  • This would simplify licensing requirements for the hunting public and help wildlife managers improve sage-grouse population management.

• Establish harvest report requirements for swan.
  • Mandatory reporting is necessary to determine species and age of birds harvested.
  • This is a condition that needs to be met for Idaho to hold a swan hunt.
