Description

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Strategy recommends the discontinuing of the issuance of IDFG permits authorizing the import or possession on live mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose or wild-origin elk. IDFG is proposing a rule change to reduce the possibility of CWD being introduced into the state through the importation and possession of wildlife that could be sources of the disease.

This rule change would ban the importation and possession of ungulates, not regulated by the Idaho State Department of Agriculture that could be infected with CWD by prohibiting import or possession of live mule deer, white-tailed deer, moose or wild-origin elk.

This rule would not affect the captive cervidae species currently under the authority of the Idaho State Department of Agriculture.
