Species Account:
Mule deer doe fawn. 1.5 years old. Large ears, black tipped tail. Easily liftable by one adult male. Animal had been hit by another vehicle, most likely a passenger car. Left foreleg was broken, compound fracture, approx 8" up from the hoof. Left body/ribcage area was distended. Deer was bleeding in relatively high volume from the mouth and ribs. Police were called and an officer dispatched the deer with his service firearm.
