Species Account:
The Female Elk had been struck by a vehicle traveling East bound on Hwy 20 toward Fairfield. We were traveling Westbound toward mountain home. The animal was unable to move (it appeared the animals back was broken). I contacted the Sheriffs office. They authorized me to dispatch the animal. I dispatched the animal and Officer Patterson arrived shortly after. Officer Patterson remained at the location and assisted me with quartering the animal. (Officer Patterson used his lights to provide safety and visibility as well as assisted with quartering. He was extremely helpful).
