Species Account:
Typical female elk with light and dark brown coloring and teets. Approximate size: 600-650 pounds. Animal was dead at encounter.
While traveling north on Hwy 46 out of Gooding I passed a white van with obvious damage from collision at approx. mile marker 119. It was at mile marker 121 that the cow elk was hit and left in the road. I stopped and observed the animal, checking for signs of life and if any other animals were hurt or deceased nearby. It was then that I called the Gooding County Sheriff to report the animal and made it known of my intention to salvage.
