Species Account:
I saw this bull for the first time yesterday at about 4pm and he was laying down not moving. He was about 50 yards off the road up on some rocks I honked the horn and he moved to look at me and then laid back down. I continued to honk and yell at him but he didn't budge. I called and talked with the local game warden about the animal and its behavior and condition because the animal looked very skinny. Last night was -15F on that road and so I thought he probably wouldn't last the night. We planned to go check on him today and the game warden told us that if he was dead and there were no gunshots in him that we could take the head and antlers. We found him today in the same location where we spotted him last night and the magpies had already pecked out his eyes. We inspected him and didn't find any damage to the body that we could tell. We think he may have broken a leg trying to go over the rocks that he was on top of. He looked very skinny and unhealthy so we just took the head and antlers.
