Species Account:
Common Whitetail Doe, no antlers nor other male attributes; She was generally fawn & tan-colored, with white highlights around tail and hind-quarters, approximately 100-130 lbs.
I was westbound on Kidd Island Rd, just west of Hull Loop (in the 2400 block of Kidd Island Rd) in my Ram 1500 truck. The doe ran (southbound) in front of me and I was unable to avoid a collision with her; I struck the back-half of her body with the left-front corner of my truck. As I pulled over, the doe made it to the (south-side) roadside ditch (as seen in the picture) on Kidd Island Rd. I checked on her and saw she was unable to stand or move. She was obviously in distress, still alive but unable to move away. Seeing that she was injured sufficiently to be rendered helpless and unable to move while in a state of distress, I euthanized the animal at the scene with my CCW handgun. I reported the incident to KCSO, who chose not to respond to the scene and advised me to leave the doe in the ditch, absent a way of removing the remains to the transfer station in Cd'A. The collision occurred at approximately 1 PM and I left the scene at approximately 1:35 PM.
