Very confident.

Count Type:
Absolute
Sex:
Female
Life State:
Dead
Life Stage:
Mature (Adult)
Disposition:
Moved to Ditch
Decomposition:
Fresh
Species Account:
I estimate that it was a 2-3 year old doe mule deer. I found it on the side of the road in the snow, with humans tracks adjacent to it. Based on the blood trail and the human tracks I speculate that the animal was killed in the roadway and then drug to the side. After salvaging the useable meat I drug it further down into the ditch and covered it partially with snow.

Date Notes:
About 7:10 p.m.I had drove West on Highway 36 out of Preston. About 9:00 p.m. I returned, driving east toward Preston. About 400–500 feet west of the intersection of 2200 West, Preston, Idaho, and Highway 36. I saw a deer lying in the snow on the south side of the road. I couldn't recall having seen it on my earlier drive so I speculated that it was fresh and I stopped and checked the carcass and determined that it was. (It may have been hit earlier that 7:10 p.m., but it was still somewhat warm, so I speculate that it was sufficiently fresh to be salvageable).
