Species Account:
This was a 3-point white-tailed buck. He was hit within a few minutes of when I passed him laying in the middle of the opposite lane. I traveled further until there was a pull out, and then safely turned around and went back and parked in front of him with my hazards on. I realized he was not quite dead after I dragged him safely to the side of the road. I ended up slitting his throat with my knife to help end his suffering. He was clearly not moving, but still breathing heavily. It appeared that he was paralyzed with a broken neck, but he was moving his back legs a little- kicking some.
