Species Account:
The deer appeared to be a yearling buck. It weighed about 60 lbs. It appeared to have been hit by a car as there was a significant patch of skin missing from one of its rear hip, I can't remember if it was the right or left side. When I first saw the deer it was laying under some trees adjacent to my property, about 1/2 miles from Highway 55, about 1 mile north of Horseshoe Bend. I talked with IDFG Officer Steve Ross and after I confirmed that I thought the wound waoul lead to the deer's death, he said I could dispatch the deer. I skinned and gutted the deer and hung it to age a little. There is no body fat on the animal, but other than that he looked to be in OK condition.
