Species Account:
The turkey was on highway 8 just east of Troy along with its flock(?). I was driving westbound. It was in the road just around a curve, it was raining and I had children in the car. I slowed as much as possible. 1 turkey flew over the vehicle & the other broke its neck on the grill/hood of my suburban. I turned around safely at the next available spot and picked it up. A passerby pulled in behind us to make sure the children and I were ok. The turkey is fully feathered, no beard so I assume it is a hen, though it could be an adolescent male. Typical black and brown coloring. The turkey died immediately upon impact.
