Species Account:
I was driving from Harvard, Id to my work in Moscow, Id on the morning of January 7, 2019 and approximately 200 feet to the east of the junction of highway 6 and highway 9, there was a juvenile male wild turkey that had apparently been hit by a vehicle, lying on the north shoulder. I view many wild turkeys in the fields adjacent to the highway there so this was no surprise. I slowed to a stop, engaged the hazard lights on my vehicle and moved in on the bird for identification. The bird has every typical features of a wild, male, turkey; spurs, beard, coloration. It was stone dead so there was no dispatch needed.
