Species Account:
At approximately 6:45 am on November 5, 2018, my vehicle was hit broadside, by a cow moose. I was while driving Southbound on Ramsey Road near the intersection of W Sylas Court. I later learned that the animal was a Cow Moose approximately 2 years old. Estimated weight of the animal at time of death was 900 lbs (before cleaning). After I called 911 to report the accident, I proceeded to look for the animal. It was not immediately visible from the roadway where the impact occurred. After walking further back on the roadway (Ramsey Rd) I located the Animal in a swale on the West Side of Ramsey Rd at the intersection of W Sylas Court. The animal was still alive and gravely injured. I did not have a weapon to put the animal down. I then flagged a truck down and advised the driver Mr Justin McMurray of the situation and asked him if they had a weapon to put the animal down. He advised me that he did. I then called 911 back and advised them that I had located the animal and advised them of the animals condition and requested permission to put the animal down. They advised me that Kootenai County Sheriff's Department was dispatched and would arrive on the seen within 5 min. And the Deputy would put the animal down. Deputy R Broesch arrived on the seen at approximately 7:00 and the animal had already expired. Deputy Broesch completed the accident report #18-47890. He asked if I wanted the Animal Salvage. I advised him that I did and Mr McMurray had offered to remove the animal and process the meat for me in exchange for 1/2 of the Meat. Mr MCmurray and his father, Field Dressed the animal on seen, after which, I helped Mr McMurray and his father load the animal into his pickup. They advised me that they were taking the animal to Mr McMurray's Home down the street.(2175 W Sylas Court) And he would contact me when the meat was ready. We exchanged telephone numbers and departed the seen at approximately 8:30 am
