Species Account:
A healthy cow elk, appears to be a three year old had what would appear to be normal fat layer for this time of year headed into winter, no observed ticks on the carcass. Cow was crossing Hwy 41 at a well known crossing north of Blanchard, ID into agricultural hay field when she was hit by a southbound automobile. She was very light buff in color, without a well defined mane. A typical healthy cow elk in all respects from all indications. No parasites were found in the organ meats.
