Species Account:
Last night at about 1100 pm on Sun. night 9/2/18. A bear ran across from left side of the road. It seemed to see my vehicle and ran across the entire hardtop. I was going about 45 when it seemed to attack and hit my 4runner. I could not avoid it and stay on the road. Bear seems more brown than black. Large, 200+ pounds. I was southbound on 95, just south of Pollock, about 15 miles north of New Meadows Id. I stopped immediately and started my hazard lights and did not see the bear. I started driving to a safer place and my bumper was rubbing on my LF tire. I had to fix that. About 300 yards away, I did..I turned around and made a round trip driving through the area slow with my hazards on. We did not see the bear from my vehicle on the road, but I may have smelled it. I think that my front metal bumper hit him in the head, hard. It could be both physically and mentally,, challenged,,, right now! It was dark and we were unable to safely find and confirm it's mortality before leaving the area. There might be about 1-3 dwellings within 1 mile of the collision.
