Species Account:
Today on Sagle Road in Sagle (12/14) on my way to work (about 6:25am), I came upon a vehicle that was stopped on the opposite side of the road. I slowed up and realized a deer had been hit. It was in the middle of the road and trying to get up, The driver of the pickup that hit it was approaching the deer and I asked if he needed any help. He said "no" and proceeded to the deer. Before I knew what was happening, he began stomping on its head to kill it. I was shocked and was unable to react. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. He dragged it off the road and I could see its back legs were still moving. He once again began stomping on it and I asked if that was necessary. He said "I don't have anything else to hit it with". Needless to say, it has absolutely ruined my day and I feel so guilty that I didn't say or doing anything to help save the animal. I hope and pray I never see anything like that again. It was traumatizing. The deer is about half way down Sagle Road from Hwy 95 (4 miles or so) and will need to be picked up. Thank you.
