Species Account:
Last night at about 4:30PM is came across a stopped vehicle that had just hit a dear. It was a male mule dear with small forked antlers and of typical coloring. It was hit on Rt 95 south bound just south of the Rt53 interchange by a small four-door passenger car. All four legs were broken but the dear was not killed. I pulled behind the deer and the vehicle that hit it and offered to put the animal down as it was suffering. They agreed and I used a derringer .45/410 to the left side of the head. I then moved the animal to the side of the road. I asked the other vehicle owner if they wished to harvest the animal and they said no and that it was mine if I wanted it. With the assistance of another driver who pulled over I loaded the animal into the back of my pickup truck.
