Species Account:
Saturday, November 11, 2017; I was fishing along the Priest River at my own address, 1287 N. Robinson Circle, Priest River, ID., 83856, 208-448-2215.; while walking along the river to my favored fishing spot, there was blood spray in the snow. This is the high-water area inside the river bed in front of my property. I followed the blood spray and droplets and there was a buck, still alive. It had been shot. When it saw me, it put it's head down, thusly I knew it was not capable of rising and running, but had laid down to die. I continued fishing. After an hour, the buck had not died and was obviously in distress. I went back to my residence, got my .22 pea-shooter, returned, and put two bullets in it's head. I took ropes and pulled it out of the river-bed high-water area, and buried it on my own property. I don't know how to butcher, however, I removed some of the meat and put it in my freezer. Although I am very thankful for the encounter, as I need the food, I'm concerned about the location, as it's all residential. The animal may have struggled-along from a distance. I'm not sure. But there was gun-fire in the area earlier that morning, and there are several families that live there which shoot at anything indiscriminate, including my feline pets. The whole thing was very disturbing (it was during Sabbath). My license number is 122919809. I just wanted to make certain that it was reported properly. I tried calling the number on my license, but it's about reporting a "crime." I do not know that a crime actually occurred. Thank you.
