Species Account:
She is a fully grown elk, but young, maybe two years old. No calves with her as her utters were dry. Beautiful coloration; deep dark brown from shoulders to nose and lighter, creamy brown through her shoulders to her buttocks and down to her leg joints. All in all a very healthy elk apart from having been hit. Her neck was broke as was her left foreleg and she had glass shrapnel through her face mutilating her nose. Her entire head was shattered; bone was protruding through her left nostril and left eye was sunk in as her right eye was swinging from its cord. When my Husband and I came across her it was about two to three in the morning, between mile markers 154 and 155. She was laying in the driving lane, thrashing about weakly. Didn't think about taking any photos at the time
