Species Account:
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on 10/22/17 An adult female (Doe) Mule Deer was struck by a motor vehicle a few minutes in front of our vehicle as we were travelling Southbound on Hwy 91 Near Mile marker 27.5 Just North of Swan Lake, ID. The Doe was full-grown and had engorged mammary glands as if she was still nursing. The driver of the vehicle who struck the deer stated they missed two other deer before striking this one. Her fur was gray, she had Large ears, and had a narrow tail with a black tip identifying her as a mule deer. The deer was also dead and not moving in any way. After taking the animal home and removing the fur there was evidence of major trauma to the neck and entire right side of the body, including broken bones and coagulated blood under skin and in the chest cavity.
