Species Account:
While biking along N Kootenai Rd at roughly 1030, I saw a flock of Wild Turkeys on one side of the road. Beyond them I saw two Common Ravens take off, and turkey feathers scattered in the road. I noticed a Wild Turkey about 4 m east of the road, sprawled in the bushes. It was still alive with its eyes open and its head up, but was basically immobile - sometimes it would flap and drag itself a few feet when a car went by. Roughly an hour later, after receiving permission from Josh Stanley to take its life, I returned. The turkey was still alive and still is approximately the same position. There was blood and probably organ fluid visible on the rear part of its back. I killed it, and while butchering it I discovered that it had a broken wing, a broken leg, and a lot of blood in its body cavity. I think it was a male because it had prominent spurs on its legs and the head had some reddish and bluish coloration.
