I would like to salvage this animal and agree to the terms of salvage:
The elk I saw was overall brown on the back and had white butt hair. The elk - sex unknown as I didn't stop to check it out - was lying with its back parallel to Highway 93 North so basically all I saw was the back and rear end with about 4 or 5 magpies that flew off of the carcass about 40 feet before I went by in my car and saw the elk. I was on my way to a doctor's appointment in Montana and couldn't take the time to stop to examine it.

I was driving to a doctor appointment in Hamilton MT. and left Salmon, ID about 0920 on March 11, 2016. That would mean that I passed thru North Fork about 0950 and likely went by the road-killed elk about 5 minutes later (at the most). Since I was driving, I had my husband jot down the nearest mile marker post, which was #329.
