Adult doe mule deer - I received a call from my 17 year old daughter, Madison Robinson, via cell phone during the evening of January 1, 2016 at approximately 7:10 pm. She was upset and told me that she had just been in an accident and hit a deer that ran out in front of her truck on Hwy 44, just west of West State Street near North Ballantyne Lane. I told her to stay where she was at and drove out to meet her.
Upon arriving, I could see significant damage to the front of the truck my daughter was driving. She told me that approximately 5 deer ran out in front of her while she was driving east on the highway and she could not avoid hitting one of them. While she waited in my truck, I walked back with a flashlight approximately 200 - 300 feet and found a deceased doe mule deer lying on the shoulder of the road. A couple of minutes later, an Ada County Sheriff's deputy was passing by and stopped to talk with us and make sure everyone was okay. Deputy Paul Lim asked us if we wanted to salvage the deer and told us to contact fish & game. He said he believed the report could be done online.
