Species Account:
Report 1. 1 of 2 Female Elk, brown and tan, approximately 350-400 lbs, hit by an unknown car, on Arrowrock road, about 100 feet beyond the sign for the turn off to the marina that says 500 feet to marina turn in and situated directly above the marina. We got out to inspect the animals and found them to be warm and still bleeding bright red blood, though the animals were expired. We moved the animals off of the road, drove down to cell range to get regulations for roadkill, came back to kill site and loaded them into our truck. There was a lot of car body parts and debris in the road, but the folks who hit the two elk apparently had left the scene under their own power, leaving the elk.
