Species Account:
We saw the doe about 15 feet off the side of the road on pine creek rd by highway 26. She was laying in the snow. We pulled over and approached her. She tried to move her front legs but was unable to move. We drove down the road about 2 miles and meet up with our group. We discussed what we had seen and decided to drive back up the road and help the deer pass. We again approached and as we did the deer again tried to move without success. She was brown and speckled white (mule deer). She was about 2 1/2 feet long and weighted about 80 pounds. Instead of just leaving her there and cutting the throat, we called a family in need and asked if they could use the meat. They were very happy to have the meat for their family of 8.
