Species Account:
The deer was grayish around 180 lbs, he has three points on his horn on both sides and looks like he was fairly heathy. He appeared to be about three years old. He has a short tail with a black tip and big floppy ears. Having hunted for many year I know it to be a Mule Deer.
We were driving north bound on highway 77 from Declo to Rupert, to return home after spending the afternoon with family. It was after dark around 8:50 pm. After reviewing a map I determined it was just south of the G Canal Round turn off on highway 77. We were driving the speed limit when a deer jumped out of a wooded area near an old farm house. I hit the brakes but was too close to stop we hit the deer.
Unfortunately we had just this last spring purchased our new 05 (new to us) Honda Odyssey van with our tax return. Since we paid cash for it we only have liability insurance and it seems to be totaled.
