Species Account:
Checklist is for July 22-24 backpack trip to Alpine Ck Lake #14. Did not keep separate checklists for each day. Warm, daytime highs 65-80F. T-storms overnight. YRWA nest at top of 7-m tall conifer in camp. Nestling fell out, caught foot in nest. Adults continued to feed; nestling killed due to exposure during violent rain & wind storm overnight. Nestling dead the next day, still hanging. Rosy-finches flew over lake and camp on second day; did not have binoculars in hand. Apparently could have been either Gray-crowned or Black Rosy-finch?
