Species Account:
A dull thud at the window and I raced to see a red-breasted nuthatch in the bushes below. It was stunned and its neck looked twisted. After rearranging it carefully with a soft stick, I left and it sat quietly for some time; when I returned and lifted a little stick from over its back it fluttered away. It looked like its wing might be broken, but soon it flew up to the window screen and clung there. It appears that it might soon fly away on its own. No doubt this little guy is migrating through.
