Merlin was a juvenile male of the Prairie (richardsoni) subspecies (seen very well 2x, including small size & coloration) that grabbed a Horned Lark from the water's edge! W. Phalarope is a bird that has been present with an injured wing (folds incompletely on perched/swimming bird) that has been present since mid-August ... was seen flying this time so maybe there's hope??
