Species Account:
There were 13 male and 2 female Mountain Bluebirds. They flew into the park onto the ground and sagebrush while I was driving along the park entrance road. They landed within 20-30 feet of my car. I saw them with 10x40 binoculars, although they were easily identifiable with the naked eye in good lighting, though overcast and light snow. Their light blue plumage is pretty unmistakable. They were in view for a couple of minutes before they flew over the slopes. A front had just passed over the day before. This morning it was very cold and windy. I'd guess these birds were following the frontal passage.
