Species Account:
I observed what appeared to be a sow with another smaller bear that I assumed to be possibly a 1-2 year old cub of hers. This observation was done from the north face of Table Mountain across the East Camas creek drainage from a distance of roughly 1200yds using a set of Leupold 10x42 binoculars. The first thing I notice was the appearance of the very distinct silver hair that went around her body around her front shoulder area. I then began to observe her more closely and noticed the hump on the shoulders. I did not get a real close look at the second bear, which was about 1/3-1/2 her size, as it very closely shadowed the side of the larger bear mimmicking its every turn and never leaving the larger bears side. I observed these bears for approximately 5 minutes before they dissapeared into some trees.
