"At least 3 dens in the area, with one den having a high probability of housing kits, while other sites appeared to be a potential for foraging locations." Observers landed by helicopter and examined the area on foot after seeing tracks the previous day.

The reproductive den was created by a fallen log immediately adjacent to forest cover, but located along the base of a talus slope forming the southern edge of the drainage. Open talus slope and associated cliff forme the north-facing drainage wall.
