Species Account:
The fisher was chasing a snowshoe hare down the road as we were coming up the road. We stopped and observed the fisher for about 30-45 seconds before it left the road. It was dark in color (dark brown to black). It appeard to have a small white patch on its underside. We stopped in the middle of the road and observed it with binoculars. The Fisher was not too worried about us, just interested in where the hare had gone. Unfortunately, we interupted his hunt and the rabbit ran into the woods. At the end of out siting, the fisher got back on the trail of the hare and disappeard into the woods on the east side of the road. Also spotted tracks later that day on the loggin road to the east (down independence Ridge).
