Habitat Description:
Wyoming big sagebrush interspersed with either native grasses or cheatgrass dominant. Basin big sagebrush was along the creek (ca 10 m from edge of creek). In areas with more cheatgrass and green rabbitbrush and heavier signs of grazing, the Brewer's sparrows dropped out. This is very interesting in terms of Brewer's sparrow distribution and habitat association. Also, the few areas with denser sagebrush cover and more basin big sagebrush were the few locations where we detected sage thrashers. Patch size of sagebrush was largest closer to the railroad tracks, i.e. furthest west on property. Note most of the rest of the property looks like areas that burned previously with mostly non-native plants (cheatgrass, rush skeletonweed, etc).
