Species Account:
At the Poison Creek unit of Lake Cascade State Park, I saw a hole appear in the asphalt path last summer and thought it funny that the ground squirrel that made it didn't just move over a foot or two. This year on May 28 I saw a squirrel using the same hole and took pictures. Today I saw what I assume to be the same squirrel a hundred feet away and took a video. I looked up the species, assuming it was a Paiute squirrel like we have in Boise but was surprised to find it may be more rare than that. I found the location interesting because it's both in the middle of the developed area and fairly far from the published ranges. When I got closer he went into another hole under the vault toilet.
