Species Account:
This herd lives in 4-5 adjoining yards (including ours) and roams through the neighborhood. It started with 3-4 deer in the winter about 6-7 years ago. They never left. Last spring there were 5 fawns added to the herd. There are usually 2-4 bucks and we have had two antler sheds found in our yard in the past year. Two of the deer have had broken legs that have healed. One had a compound break in a foreleg and can only use the other three legs. They live here year-round and eat our gardens and plants, leave piles of scat all over the yard and have broken our fence down. I contacted Fish and Game last year and was told there is nothing they can do to relocate these deer. This spring, they are either molting or have mange/lice. One yearling I observed has large patches of red bare skin on its torso.
