Species Account:
Observed a mature Lodge pole pine (dbh ~20) with obvious signs of gnawing by a porcupine on branches photos taken. The branches had no bark on the upper sides at three different levels about 8, 10 and 14 above ground level. These gnawing were recent but not fresh (i.e. within the winter months of this year). I looked around the area for other evidence but could not locate any other trees that had porcupine sign. The habitat was along Camas Creek in the riparian zone. Cottonwood trees, willows and lodge pole pine were dispersed in the general vicinity.
