Individual(s) Observed (seen)
Dark gray color, medium size bear (400 pounds?), grizzly profile of strong front shoulders, seen in the vicinity of grizzly tracks found the day before. Was observed while elk hunting. During cow calling, I observed the bear crossing a hillside about 120 yards away, when my partner made a call, the bear turned directly toward him and approached downhill to his location. He was moving right along, not running, and got within 80 yards. At that point, I started yelling and getting together with my hunting partner, pulled out bear spray in anticipation of an encounter. I lost sight of it when I was moving, when we looked for it a moment later the bear was gone, we assume back up over the ridge he had approached from.
