Individual(s) Observed (seen)
We backpacked to Upper Box Lake from the East Fork road over Johnstone Pass. We stayed the nights of 7/31 and 8/1/2020 on the southern side of the lake. At dusk on 7/31, we heard it come down the scree field on the north west of the lake and glassed it from approximately 150 yards with an 8x optic. We could see large claws, small head, and white markings down its sides. About the size of our 60 lb lab. It was looking at our location for some time but didn't act concerned. It followed the northern edge of the lake for 1-2 minutes and then worked it's way up the scree field to the northeast and over the ridge which we have a short video of. I couldn't upload the video but email me if you would like a copy. On the following night, we saw a group of five mountain goats in the vicinity of wear we saw the wolverine first come towards the lake.
