Species Identification Confidence:
Probably. I'm a bit uncertain
Individual(s) Observed (seen)
Large, white waterfowl, definitely not swans, too white to be sandhill cranes, and... we observed three calls, a clucking sound, an indescribable sound similar to sandhill cranes, and... a whooping call! Observation time was early morning. We were camped in a natural blind formed by the cottonwood forest on the South Fork of the Snake above Heise. Birds were on the east side of the river.
