Individual(s) Observed (seen)
As we ascended out of the middlefork valley, we saw the ruddy brown bear running rapidly up a very steep hill in front of us; and then cresting the rise. We stopped for a half minute to look, but did not see the bear emerge so we drove around the same hill on the road. As we rounded to the back side of the ridge, the bear ran in front of our vehicle at full speed. It was only yards in front of us. It was definitly a brown bear and not a black. I hunt black bear, and this one was a third again bigger than an adult black bear. It also had an identifiable hump.
