Species Account:
Birds seen during official bird surveys and in between counts.
Heard characteristic drum - with the trailing off effect at the end (sorry for lack of details on first submission! we were rushing thru many things at a short wireless stop). We're doing point counts and I'm very familiar with all drums & calls of Idaho's woodpeckers - had in fact just seen and heard another 3-toed at a bit higher elevation NE of Calder the day before. This did seem low elevation but it was on an upper slope with many big trees and some snags - didn't seem too off from other places I've observed this species.
