Abstract:

Surveys for northern goshawks (Accipiter gen tills) were conducted in the Cassia division of the Sawtooth National Forest. Approximately 113 km2 of potential nesting habitat were surveyed requiring 13.2 hours of survey time to cover 150 calling stations. Twelve goshawk responses resulted in the location of 7 new nest areas within the Cassia division. Fifteen historical nest areas were checked for current breeding activity. Six historical nest areas were active in 1995, while 9 were not.
