Abstract:

This memorandum/email from Rita Dixon (Idaho Department of Fish and Game [IDFG]) to Sylvia Copeland and Angie Schmidt (also IDFG) describes a few findings of a February 2017 survey made by Bat Conservation International's Subterranean Team on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests: 1) One location previously identified as a hibernaculum was found to have no bats and to be unsuited to be a hibernaculum. Therefore, it is no longer a priority for white-nose syndrome (WNS) surveillance. 2) Another of the surveyed locations was found to have only one bat (Myotis sp., "likely Myotis evotis or thysanodes based on BCI's description.") 3) One of the sites was not surveyed because the U.S. Forest Service's keys to the mine gates could not be located.
