When will the 2012 Chukar inventory study be released?

  Idaho discontinued its helicopter chukar counts in 2011.  This was one of the aerial surveys eliminated after a review conducted to assess risk and cost in relation to value of biological information collected, following a fatal helicopter accident in August 2010.  Like many other years, hunting can vary widely geographically.  Idaho is an extremely geographically diverse state.  Spring conditions were favorable across much of Idaho during 2012.  Persistent drought conditions could impact brood survival.  However, reports from folks in the field suggest the population had good production and this fall looks to be promising.
