There is a dead hawk and two dead barn owls in my yard if Rockland. Do you have anything to do with that?

Answer:

Yes, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game would be very interested in looking at these dead birds.  Hawks and Owls of all types are classified as "raptors" or birds of prey.  All raptors are protected by federal and state laws.  In addition possession of the birds or any parts or feathers from the birds is prohibited by state and federal laws.  We would be interested in collecting and examining the birds to determine cause of death.  The birds may have been poisoned, hit a power line, hit by a vehicle or shot by an individual who may not have known they were protected.  The fact that you have three "raptors" of different species dead in your yard indicates there may be a problem we need to investigate and remedy so future birds are not killed.   Or you can call your local Regional Office.
