September trout stocking schedule for the Southeast Region

Project WILD workshop for teachers coming to Pocatello in September
How would you like to be a “WILD teacher”? A “WILD teacher” is one who has participated in a Project WILD workshop presented by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Participants learn about wildlife and discover fun and exciting ways to teach wildlife conservation and ecological concepts in the classroom. Plus, it is a great way to earn a credit through an Idaho university. The next Project WILD workshop-- WILD About Early Learners-- is coming to Pocatello in September!

Prescribed burn in unit 66 may continue into the first week of September
Hunters in the Tex Creek Zone should be aware of prescribed burn activity in Unit 66. Some minor trail and area closures may be in effect into the first week of September as the Forest Service wraps up fire activity.

F&G Commission looks to manage nonresident hunters and seeks nonresident fee increase
The Idaho Fish and Game Commission is looking at ways to manage the number and distribution of nonresident big game hunters in response to concerns about hunter crowding and congestion in some popular hunting areas.

Magic Valley Region trout stocking schedule for September 2019
Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking nearly 29,000 10" - 12” catchable-sized rainbow trout at the following locations during September.

Update Sept. 13: All nonresident elk and deer tags sold out
Fish and Game licensing section reported all regular nonresident deer and elk tags have sold out.
Limits apply only to nonresident deer tags. There is no limit on the number of resident deer tags available.

Commission approves fall Chinook fishing, reduces steelhead bag limit
Idaho Fish and Game Commission recently opened the fall Chinook salmon fishing season on the Snake, Salmon and Clearwater rivers starting Aug. 24 and reduced the fall steelhead bag limit to one fish per day and three in possession.

Salmon Region waters to be stocked with trout in September

Gavers Lagoon stocking suspended prior to lagoon rehabilitation
Stocking of rainbow trout has been suspended at Gavers Lagoon, located at the Hayspur Hatchery near Picabo, due to an upcoming rehabilitation project. Normally, the popular lagoon is stocked on a regular basis for anglers who like to fish in the Wood River Valley.
