Sneaker males: Not all male Chinook have the same life history and spawning habits
Chinook salmon have complicated and highly variable life histories driven by environmental factors, growth and genetics. Normally, these fish spend several years foraging in the Pacific Ocean before returning as adults to their natal freshwater streams to spawn. However, sometimes nature has ways to avoid “putting all of your eggs in one basket," and Chinook are an example of that.

Campers report food-conditioned bears in Wood River Valley and Fairfield campgrounds
Biologists with Fish and Game, Magic Valley Region received reports over the July 4th holiday weekend of black bears getting into camp sites in both the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and in the Fairfield Ranger District.

Repeated black bear activity has been reported in the Hayden View and Canfield area of Coeur d’Alene
Officers with Idaho Fish and Game in the Panhandle have received multiple calls over the past few weeks about black bear activity near Canfield Mountain, in the Hayden View Drive and Packsaddle Drive area, just north of Dalton Gardens.
