Here are some highlights beyond the routine fish stocking going on statewide

Teton River 2021 Summary
Throughout the month of September 2021 rafts outfitted with electrofishing gear could be seen shocking fish in the Teton River Valley and the South Fork Teton River near Rexburg. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) along with staff and volunteers with the Friends of the Teton River conducted fish population surveys using mark/recapture methods on three monitoring reaches in the Teton River drainage.

Black's Creek Ammo Amnesty Program returns Nov. 1
Starting on Nov. 1, the “Ammo Amnesty” program is back at Black’s Creek Public Shooting Range, giving shooters the opportunity to use some types of steel-component ammunition — bimetal or steel-jacketed —that normally are not allowed at the range.

F&G completes major habitat restoration and access improvements at Fort Boise WMA
The WMA, located west of Parma, was reopened for hunters just in time for the fall waterfowl and pheasant seasons.

Upper Snake and Salmon regions experiencing pheasant shortage for stocking
Due to supply and distribution issues with a contractor hired to provide pheasants to Fish and Game Wildlife Management Areas and other stocking locations in the Upper Snake and Salmon Region, pheasants will be redistributed statewide in an effort to supply pheasants during the remainder of the hunting season at a reduced stocking rate per area.

November trout stocking schedule for the Southeast Region
As you head out for some hunting this fall, don’t forget your fishing pole! 9,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout are headed to two Southeast Region locations during November. This is in addition to over 210,000 fish already released this fall in this part of the state! Now, that’s quite the fish story!

Wood River Valley website to provide residents with information to reduce human – wildlife conflicts
The Wood River Valley Wildlife Smart Communities Coalition recently launched wrvwildlifesmart.org, which provides people with information about how to live safely with wildlife, including mountain lions and black bears. Most of the information provided applies statewide.

Hatchery personnel from Fish and Game’s Magic Valley Region will be stocking approximately 1,900 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in November.

Volunteers help to restore wildlife habitat lost to the 2020 Badger Fire
